A very warm welcome to WANAKA SPRINGS LODGE!
We look forward to the opportunity of hosting you at Wanaka Springs Lodge.and we would be delighted to assist in making your holiday in Wanaka and in the South Island of New Zealand the best it can be.
You may well be wondering as to the origin of the name Wanaka. The name Wanaka according to folk lore is a corruption of Oanaka, which means “place of Anaka”, Anaka being the name of an early Maori chief of this district.
In March of 1991 Glynis and John landed in Christchurch from South Africa and at that stage there were only a very small number of South Africans immigrants in New Zealand. For 3 months we were fortunate enough to be based in Littleton on the outskirts of Christchurch and we extensively explored South Island, and thoroughly enjoyed the unique South Island hospitality, and the beauty of this amazing Island. After 3 months we found work in Wellington and lived there for 11 years, and both of our children were born there.
John comes from a financial services back ground, and Glynis is a Cordon Bleu Chef. These two careers resulted in an enjoyment and passion for entertaining and meeting new people. After working in Australia for 12 years during which time we were fortunate enough to travel the world extensively, we decided to return to the country which captured our hearts and to follow our dream. We purchased Wanaka Springs Lodge from Murray & Lynne in December 2013 and are committed to continue to grow the reputation of the lovely Lodge.
Our aim is to help you too to fall in love with this beautiful country and its heritage, to provide you with a great Kiwi experience, and what better place for this to happen than the breath-taking Wanaka.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
